About the Position

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Junior Procurement Officer based in Lilongwe, Malawi, to serve as our on-the-ground representative for procurement and tender activities. This is a field-based role supporting the company’s business acquisition operations in Malawi, working closely with our senior procurement and business development team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Attending public tender openings on behalf of Huza-Labs and reporting outcomes promptly.
  • Supporting the printing, packaging, and physical submission of bid documents to procuring entities within deadlines.
  • Actively tracking and monitoring procurement opportunities in Malawi (government portals, newspapers, procuring entity notice boards, and local networks) and alerting the head office to opportunities beyond those visible from Kigali.
  • Accompanying and supporting senior specialists during initial client engagements, site visits, and pre-bid meetings, where applicable.
  • Maintaining records of submissions, opening reports, and opportunity trackers as directed by the acquisition team.
  • Performing other related procurement tasks as assigned, including tender document review.

Note: Where opportunity volume justifies it, the company may provide a printer and related equipment to speed up bid preparation and submission.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in procurement or a related field or at least in their final year of their bachelor’s studies with good competitive grades.
  • Must be resident in Lilongwe.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability in meeting strict deadlines.
  • Good written and spoken English; ability to draft short, clear reports.
  • Basic computer literacy (email, MS Word, printing/scanning).
  • Willingness to travel within Lilongwe and occasionally to other locations for openings and submissions.
  • High integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential bid documents.

Added Advantages

  • Familiarity with the Malawi Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) e-GP system or public tender processes.
  • Prior experience in document handling, courier/submission work, or administrative support.
