Position Context

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Supervisor is there to ensure that all the laboratory processes adhere to standard operating procedures and produce high quality and efficient outputs.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To oversee procurement, receipt, storage, and control of inventory.
  • To manage reagents and consumables in an effective and efficient manner.
  • To ensure compliance with the laboratory’s quality management system requirements.
  • To supervise technical operational functions of the laboratory.
  • To implement risk management strategies and promote continuous quality improvement.
  • To manage staff under their supervision.
  • To produce reports on regular and ad-hoc bases.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • Training in ISO 15189:2022 Quality Management System is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
