OVERVIEW

Nkhoma University is an institution of higher learning accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). The University has three campuses; two at Nkhoma, 15km off Kamphata Trading Centre, and one at Chigoneka in Area 47. The University Head Office is situated at the heart of Lilongwe City, within Lilongwe CCAP premises. As the university is growing, it invites applications from qualified and suitable candidates for the position of Lecturer as follows:

Lecturer Statistics Master’s degree in Statistics

Job Title: Lecturer - Statistics

Reports To: Head of Mathematics/Science Department

Job Purpose:

To teach statistical methods and data analysis to students across various departments (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Business). The role aims to build students' quantitative literacy and ability to apply statistical tools to real-world research problems.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction: Teach courses in Descriptive Statistics, Inferential Statistics, Regression Analysis, and Probability.

Software Training: Train students in the use of statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, or Excel).

Research Support: Serve as a statistical consultant for students and faculty members conducting research, assisting with study design and data interpretation.

Curriculum Development: Update the statistics curriculum to include modern data science techniques.

Assessment: Design and grade problem-based assignments and examinations.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Applied Mathematics (with a statistics focus). (A Master’s in Statistics is specifically required).

Experience: Experience in teaching statistics at the university level.

Skills & Competencies:

High proficiency in statistical computing.

Ability to explain abstract mathematical concepts in a clear, accessible manner.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
