Africa Sun Power Limited (AFSP) is a locally incorporated private organisation implementing innovative off-grid solar electric cooking solutions in Malawi. AFSP has been awarded a CLASP/MECS Venture Building Grant to validate the technical performance, commercial viability, and investability of its battery-enabled Off-Grid Solar E-Cooking Systems (OGSECS).
AFSP is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates to fill the position below:
Responsibilities or duties
JOB PURPOSE
The Marketing, Education & Sales Officer will be responsible for promoting, educating, and supporting customer understanding of AFSP’s Off-Grid Solar E-Cooking Systems (OGSECS). The role involves product education, development of marketing and training materials, management of communication platforms, coordination of outreach campaigns, and support to customer engagement and investor storytelling activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Documentation & Customer Education
- Work with technical teams to develop customer documentation for OGSECS products
- Test educational materials with customers and refine based on feedback
- Ensure effectiveness of customer training and demonstration materials
- Product Publicity & Outreach
- Oversee production of posters, brochures, and educational materials
- Coordinate media outreach (radio, TV, newspapers)
- Organize participation in exhibitions, conferences, and public events
- Manage distribution and quality assurance of promotional materials
- Website & Social Media Management
- Oversee development and maintenance of AFSP website
- Manage social media platforms and digital engagement
- Coordinate production of educational and promotional videos
- Customer Education Campaigns
- Develop and implement train-the-trainer education programmes
- Support technician-led customer education during installations and maintenance
- Track customer education activities using the AFSP database
- Evaluate impact of education programmes on product usage
- Customer Support & Product Optimization
- Develop and document user “tips and best practices” for system use
- Support development of educational materials on system upgrades
- Produce user guides such as “How to Upgrade Your Solar Cooking System”
- Collaborate with technical teams and Discount Programme Officers
- Collect and analyze customer feedback to improve education materials
- International Outreach & Storytelling
- Support investor and impact credit outreach initiatives
- Develop promotional materials highlighting AFSP’s impact in Malawi
- Support improvement of investor pitch materials
- Disseminate AFSP’s climate, development, and impact story through digital platforms
- Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on:
- Customer education activities
- Product documentation updates
- Marketing and outreach campaigns
- Digital engagement metrics
- Investor outreach activities
- Participate in daily coordination calls with management
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong data management and record-keeping skills
- Good understanding of solar energy systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools (Excel, Google Workspace, WhatsApp, etc.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage field-based activities independently
- Creativity in marketing and public engagement
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Experience needed
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Sales, Economics, Business Management, or related field
- Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in:
- Marketing, education, or public outreach
- Solar product promotion or customer engagement
- Rural or community-based programmes
- Experience in solar energy systems, customer support, or product education will be an added advantage.

- Willingness to travel frequently to rural communities
