Background

Salima Sugar Company Limited (SSCL) is a limited liability Company incorporated in Malawi under the Companies Act with postal address PO. Box 200, Lilongwe and Head Office at Matundu Mbulo Office Complex in Lilongwe.

SSCL is a subsidiary of Greenbelt Investments Holdings Limited. The Company’s business is development of sugar plantations, production of sugar and its byproducts for the Malawi and export markets.

The Post

The mechanical engineer designs, develops, builds, and tests mechanical systems and machinery. He or she is responsible for the research, design, development, and implementation of mechanical components and systems across various industries, including manufacturing, energy, transportation, and construction. This includes designing, testing, and evaluating machinery, as well as troubleshooting and improving existing systems.

Key responsibilities:

Design and Development: The Mechanical engineer uses knowledge of engineering principles, mathematics, and physics to design and develop new or improved mechanical systems and components. This will involve creating detailed technical drawings, specifications, and prototypes.

Testing and Evaluation: He or she conduct experiments and analyses to evaluate the performance, safety, and efficiency of mechanical systems and components.

Problem Solving: Troubleshoot malfunctions, analyze problems, and develop innovative solutions to improve existing systems and designs.

Manufacturing and Installation: He or she nay be involved in overseeing the manufacturing process and ensuring the correct installation and operation of mechanical systems.

Collaboration: Work with other engineers, technicians, and project managers to achieve project goals.

Continuous Improvement: The Mechanical Engineer will be involved in identifying areas for improvement in design, manufacturing, and operation, and implementing changes to enhance performance and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited University coupled with ten years’ experience.
