Position Summary

The Mental Health & Social Skills Coach will lead the delivery of personal development, wellbeing, employability, and life skills programmes at the Pathway Centre. Working closely with other coaches, the Coach will equip young women with the knowledge, attitudes, and practical skills needed to build confidence, strengthen emotional wellbeing, communicate effectively, make informed decisions, prepare for the world of work, and successfully transition into further education, employment, entrepreneurship, or other life pathways.

 

The successful candidate will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment while promoting safeguarding, positive mental health, resilience, and participant wellbeing through learner-centered coaching approaches.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Development & Life Skills

  • Facilitate engaging and interactive learning sessions covering personal development, life skills, communication, workplace readiness, career development, and other modules assigned within the Pathway Centre curriculum.
  • Support participants to develop self-awareness, confidence, resilience, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, leadership, and responsible citizenship.
  • Deliver practical learning experiences using participatory approaches such as role plays, simulations, case studies, group discussions, reflective exercises, and peer learning activities.
  • Adapt coaching approaches to accommodate participants with diverse learning needs and experiences.

Essential Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Education, Community Development, Adult Education, or another relevant social science field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience facilitating youth development, life skills, psychosocial support, coaching, counselling, education, or community-based programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adolescents, young women, or other vulnerable populations.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, mental health and psychosocial support, gender equality, youth development, and gender-responsive programming.
  • Experience using participatory and learner-centered facilitation approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chichewa.
