Central Poultry Limited (CP) is a Malawian multinational food company headquartered in Lilongwe. The Opportunity

The Microbiologist will be responsible for conducting microbiological testing and monitoring sanitation standards within the company’s production and processing environments. The role supports food safety assurance by identifying microbial risks, maintaining laboratory quality control systems, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct microbiological testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Monitor hygiene and sanitation standards within production and processing areas.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality assurance protocols.
  • Investigate and report on contamination incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of food safety management systems (e.g., HACCP).

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant laboratory experience, preferably in food production or processing.
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
