OVERVIEW
VaultString is seeking a highly motivated and experienced MicroFinance Manager to lead our microfinance operations and drive portfolio growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As MicroFinance Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of our microfinance programs. You will be responsible for designing effective financial products, managing lending operations, and ensuring strong portfolio performance and profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and oversee microfinance lending strategies, policies, and procedures
- Manage a portfolio of microloans, ensuring high repayment rates and minimizing defaults
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partner organizations
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities for new products and services
- Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, financial indicators, and key risk metrics
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of loan officers and field staff
- Prepare regular reports on program performance for senior management
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in microfinance, banking, or lending operations
- Proven track record in managing microloan portfolios and achieving performance targets
- Strong understanding of lending principles, risk management, and credit analysis
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management software
- Experience working in Malawi is an advantage
- Malawi economic insights
