Coal Minerals Group (CMG) is a Leading Malawian owned Coal Mining Company that is based in Karonga at Pusi and it operates at Kasantha. The company has been in operation for over 5 years. It is registered by the Government of Malawi and is currently employing more than 200 Malawians. The Company seeks to recruit experienced and motivated individuals to fill the following new positions. Those with Mining experience will have an added advantage.

Responsibilities or duties

Mine Design and Planning: To design layouts for both open-pit and underground mines, determining the best placement for shafts, tunnels, and chambers. This involves using specialized computer modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac).

Operational Oversight: Supervise daily activities, including drilling, blasting, and coal extraction. Monitor production data to identify trends and optimize the efficiency of the mining process.

Safety Management: A critical duty is ensuring the mine meets all safety standards and regulatory requirements. Inspect mine walls and roofs for stability, monitor air quality (ventilation), and examine equipment for hazards.

Equipment and Infrastructure: Select the appropriate machinery and tools for extraction and manage the installation and maintenance of mine infrastructure.

Environmental Stewardship: Be able to plan for land reclamation and waste disposal, ensuring that the site is restored after mining operations conclude. To address issues like water and air pollution.

Financial and Project Management: Be able to prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and production schedules to ensure operations remain economically viable and on track.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in mining or geological engineering or metallurgy and minerals engineering.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills are essential for leading teams and preparing technical reports.

Those with Mining experience will have an added advantage.
