Background

Radio Maria Malawi is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as National Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure operational excellence, and guide the station’s mission in alignment with its Catholic identity and organizational vision.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees on financial and administrative matters and to the National Director on editorial matters, the National Coordinator will oversee all operational, financial, and human resource aspects of the station, ensuring the effective implementation of its mission and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction in line with the mission, vision, and Catholic identity of Radio Maria Malawi.
  • Report to the Board of Trustees and National Director as required.
  • Represent and serve as the official spokesperson of the station, liaising with the World Family of Radio Maria and other partners.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the main station and sub-studios.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and assets in compliance with institutional policies and statutory regulations.
  • Supervise the preparation and timely submission of operational and financial reports.

Human Resources & Capacity Building

  • Implement HR and administrative policies, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Identify staff training needs and promote continuous capacity building.
  • Foster a positive, values-based organizational culture that motivates and retains staff.

Programming & Editorial Oversight

  • Ensure daily programming aligns with Catholic teachings and broadcasting standards.
  • Collaborate with programming teams to maintain content quality and consistency.

Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach

  • Strengthen relationships with diocesan structures, Friends of Radio Maria Malawi, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead promotional and fundraising efforts, including proposal development and donor engagement.
  • Enhance the public image and reputation of the station through community outreach and partnerships.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Media/Communications, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive leadership experience, including at least 3 years in senior management, preferably in broadcasting, media, or the non-profit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and teachings, with a commitment to the Church’s mission of evangelization.
  • Proven experience in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in ICT and accounting/management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize resources and manage donor relations.
