Responsibilities or duties

  • Providing treatment and care to clients.
  • Taking initial vital signs and monitoring them for in-patients.
  • Providing general nursing care of both in-patients and out-patients.
  • Administering medications, performing wound dressing and other tasks assigned.
  • Order medication and medical supplies for wards.
  • Keeping inventory of medications and medical supplies on tally records.
  • Compile handover notes and reports in case notes.
  • Supervise ward attendants.
  • Communicate with patients/clients and guardians professionally.
  • Ensuring that standard precautions of infection prevention and control practices and patient safety standards are adhered to at all times.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Nurse Midwife Technician Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.

Experience needed

  • Three years practical experience in a busy hospital.

  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of work organization, self-motivation, driving for performance improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
