OVERVIEW
St. Michael’s Guilleme Community Hospital, a Catholic institution under the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, is seeking qualified and dedicated Nurse Midwife Technicians to join our team.

JOB SUMMARY
We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for 6 positions of Nurse Midwife Technician (Grade K) at St. Michael’s Guilleme Community Hospital, Mchinji. Under CHAM Umbrella.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive nursing and midwifery care, including conducting normal deliveries, offering postpartum care, and monitoring the health conditions of mothers and newborns
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care
- Assist doctors and senior nurses in handling urgent obstetric and neonatal emergencies
- Supervise the cleanliness of the wards to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patient care while fostering a good nurse-patient relationship
- Prepare comprehensive handover notes at the end of each shift for the incoming nurse on duty.
- Oversee the proper recording of data in relevant registers
- Disseminate necessary information to all relevant stakeholders, including the submission of monthly reports
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as per guidelines
- Educate mothers and families on maternal and neonatal care, including breastfeeding and family planning
- Prepare and deliver health tips and educational talks to patients
- Accompany and assist doctors/clinicians during ward rounds, clinics, and procedures
- Supervise junior staff in the ward to ensure smooth operations and quality patient care
- Accurately report individual patient care and events to follow-up nurses or the ward-in charge by conducting daily nursing rounds
- Aggregate, analyze, and interpret patient care data
- Utilize effective communication skills to ensure respectful interactions and contribute to a positive nurse-patient relationship
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
- Basic life support and emergency care skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a hospital setting
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical practice
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control measures.
