The Nurse will work closely with the Clinical Technician and will be responsible for the day-to-day clinic operations, as well as providing primary healthcare services to staff members.

Responsibilities or duties

Reporting to the Clinical Technician, the Nurse will be responsible for carrying out the following duties, among others:

  • Provide first aid and emergency treatment for workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer medication and treatment within defined scope.
  • Participate in workplace safety talks as per approved schedules.
  • Manage minor ailments and refer other cases to the Clinical Technician where necessary.
  • Be the first contact in Anti-Retroviral services at the clinic.
  • Update the Clinic Inventory sheets for various drugs in stock.
  • Ensure the Clinic Health Register Book is properly updated with relevant information for all visiting members of staff.
  • Support the process of medical examinations for food handlers in liaison with the Clinical Technician and the Safety Team.
  • Ensure clinic cleanliness and proper waste management according to Clinic Operations Procedures.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

The ideal candidates should have at least the following qualifications and experience:

  • Diploma in Nursing obtained from an accredited institution.
  • Must be registered with relevant institution.

Experience needed

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy industrial set up or medical environment.

Key Competencies

  • Good interpersonal communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to conduct basic medical assessments (vital signs, first aid, triage)
  • Knowledge of medical emergency protocols and drills.
  • Ability to maintain proper drug records
  • Ability to keep confidential information
