VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – RACANE ASSOCIATES
Position: Office Accountant
Location: Blantyre
Reporting to: Executive Partner
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Accountant will provide key financial support in managing the firm’s accounting operations. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare financial statements and management reports
- Record, process, and maintain accurate financial transactions
- Manage accounts payable and receivables
- relationships with suppliers
- Reconciling the account payables and account receivables
- Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain cashbooks
- Budget preparation and expenditure monitoring
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Budgeting and financial planning
- Maintain proper and organized filing of all financial documents
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations
- Assist during internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Payroll processing and pay slips for staff
- Preparation of PAYE VAT, Withholding Tax, Returns to MRA in order to comply with laws and regulations
- Process payments, invoices, and receipts
- Ensure payments are made within the agreed-upon timelines and maintain good
- Perform any such duties as may be assigned by Executive Partner from time to time.
- Effecting data entry into the accounting system (Quick Books) and ensuring the accuracy of the data
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant work experience
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Pastel, or QuickBooks
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Team player
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Part qualification in a professional accounting body (ICAM or ACCA) (Added Advantage)
