Background
Our client, an international high school, seeks to engage the services of a highly motivated, result oriented, well experienced person, to the post of Principal.
THE JOB
Reporting to the Managing Director and accountable to the Board, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing the following key duties:-
i) Leadership and strategic management: Creation and implementation of a shared school vision, including interacting with larger political, social, legal, and cultural contexts of the school.
ii) Board Relations: Participate in meetings as an ex officio member and ensure the school’s Board resolutions are implemented.
iii) Operations Management: Responsible for planning, budgeting, implementation and reporting, including financial management and administration, including ensuring collection of school fees and other related resources and accountability of the same.
iv) Program Development and Delivery: Oversee the nurturing sustenance of a culture of exceptional teaching and safe learning environment conducive to learning and staff development, by among other things, regular monitoring of instruction methods, evaluation of curricula and academic programmes to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilisation.
v) Compliance: Ensure compliance with standards by all teaching and support staff, including learners, including standards set by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIIE).
vi) Value Promotion: Promotion of integrity, fairness, and ethical behaviour among staff and learners at the school in keeping with the school values.
vii) Relationships and Stakeholder Management: Collaboration with parents and the diverse communities of the school in a manner that enhances the school’s brand. This includes collaboration with other institutions especially Universities for teacher and academic interaction, as well as ensuring that the school’s website is regularly updated.
THE PERSON
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals, who should have the following:
i) Educational Qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration and Planning.
ii) Experience Required
- Experience in managing reputable international Cambridge schools or their equivalent.
- Experience in managing a school as a Business entity with a view of profitability.
- Proven experience in leading and managing staff, including recruitment, staff development, training, mentoring and performance assessment.
- Demonstrated financial management competence, including the preparation and management of budgets and contracts.
iii) Skills Required
- Demonstrable people skills such as being able to inspire, lead teams and hold others accountable for tasks and duties.
- Self-management skills that include excellent time management and priorisation, sustenance of morale and integrity.
- Good communication skills in English both written and verbal.
- Sensitivity in working with diverse cultures.
