The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from versatile and suitably qualified candidates to fill the above vacant position in the Administration Division

Overall Objective

To carry out preventive and corrective plumbing works at MRA buildings and facilities in order to ensure reliable water supply and waste management systems, contributing to a safe, hygienic, and functional working environment

Main Responsibilities

  • Installing , maintaining and repairing plumbing systems including water supply lines, drainage systems, toilets, urinals, basins, and geysers in MRA facilities.
  • Conducting routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential problems and implement preventative maintenance.
  • Responding promptly to plumbing emergencies such as leaks, burst pipes and blockages to minimise service disruption.
  • Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems and other plumbing materials.
  • Ensure all plumbing work complies with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and MRA’s internal policies.
  • Advising on spare parts, consumables and tools required for efficient performance.
  • Maintaining maintenance logs and submit daily maintenance feedback reports for all work carried out.
  • Supporting procurement of plumbing materials by providing specifications and ensuring proper use and accountability.
  • Collaborating with other technical staff (electricians, carpenters, etc.) in maintaining overall facility functionality.
  • Timely closure of work orders to ensure no back log.

Qualification & Experience

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
  • City & Guilds diploma/TEVETA level 3/Trade Test Grade 1 in plumbing
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in plumbing works, preferably in a large organisation.
  • Knowledge of water reticulation and drainage systems in multi-storey office buildings is an added advantage.
  • Valid registration with a recognized professional body (MEI) is an added advantage.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Successful candidates before being appointed will undergo an extensive background check of their integrity. Only when the vetting exercise is favourable shall the Authority make the appointment.
