Job Overview
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to join the Faculty of Development Studies as Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer, or Staff Associate in Development Economics.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, consultancy, curriculum development, student mentorship, and community engagement while advancing scholarship in Development Economics.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Development Economics.
- Develop and review course content and curricula.
- Conduct research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research.
- Secure research grants and consultancy opportunities.
- Mentor students academically and professionally.
- Participate in outreach programmes and faculty administration.
- Serve on departmental, faculty, and university committees.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Master's degree in Development Economics from a recognized university for appointment at the Assistant Lecturer level.
- A PhD in Development Economics from a recognized university for appointment at the Lecturer level and above.
Applicants should also demonstrate proficiency in teaching:
- Macroeconomic Theory
- Institutional and Behavioral Economics
- Economic Growth and Development
Other Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with at least a Credit for Staff Associate applicants.
- Minimum three (3) years' relevant experience, preferably in university teaching or curriculum development.
- Senior academic applicants must demonstrate publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals and evidence of attracting research funding.
Terms and Conditions
Successful candidates will be appointed on an initial two-year contract, with eligibility for permanent appointment based on satisfactory performance.
