About Moyowathu Wabwino (MwB)

Moyowathu Wabwino (MwB) is a Malawian non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan organization committed to inclusive, accountable and sustainable development. MwB strengthens integrated community systems so that people, communities and institutions can address interconnected challenges of poverty, inequality and vulnerability. Its work prioritizes youth, women, children, persons with disabilities and other marginalized populations, with a strong emphasis on locally led development, community agency, accountability, inclusive services, resilient livelihoods and strategic partnerships.

Position Purpose

To support the design, planning, implementation, coordination and reporting of MwB programmes and partnerships, ensuring that activities are community-centred, inclusive, evidence-informed and aligned with MwB’s strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning and Implementation

  • Support development of programme concepts, proposals, work plans, budgets and activity schedules.
  • Coordinate implementation of approved activities and maintain implementation trackers and programme records.
  • Monitor delivery against agreed plans and flag implementation challenges and emerging opportunities.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support meaningful community participation throughout programme planning, implementation, monitoring and learning.
  • Facilitate engagement with Government, district councils, community structures, civil society and other partners.
  • Promote local ownership, inclusive participation and accountability in programme delivery.

Programme Quality and Integration

  • Support integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, youth participation, safeguarding, climate resilience, human rights and accountability.
  • Work with the MEL Associate to use monitoring evidence and community feedback to improve implementation.
  • Support application of MwB programme standards and Integrated Community Systems Strengthening approaches.

Reporting and Resource Mobilization

  • Prepare activity reports, programme updates, case studies and contributions to donor and organizational reports.
  • Document lessons and promising practices and support organizational learning.
  • Contribute to concept notes, proposals, donor research and partnership development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Education, Community Development or another relevant discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant programme or project experience in the development, humanitarian or civil society sector.
  • Experience working with communities, Government institutions and/or civil society partners.
  • Demonstrated ability in programme planning, implementation, reporting and stakeholder coordination.
  • Knowledge of community development, systems strengthening, inclusion, accountability or locally led development is desirable.
  • Strong report-writing, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to programme locations as required.
