Job Overview

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the Programme Manager – Resilience will lead the planning, implementation, and oversight of climate resilience and adaptation interventions in Chikwawa.

The role includes managing programme staff, coordinating partners, overseeing budgets and reporting, and ensuring the effective delivery of resilience-building activities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management, Monitoring and Reporting

  • Lead the implementation of climate resilience and adaptation interventions.
  • Develop and manage work plans, budgets, and activity schedules.
  • Oversee procurement and distribution of climate-resilient agricultural inputs.
  • Supervise the rehabilitation of small-scale irrigation schemes.
  • Coordinate Community Disaster Fund (CDF) initiatives and climate financing mechanisms.
  • Lead the implementation of Build Back Better (BBB) approaches.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance and prepare donor and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards and donor requirements.

Technical Leadership and Capacity Building

  • Provide technical guidance on resilience and climate adaptation programming.
  • Mentor programme staff and partners.
  • Represent Concern Worldwide in relevant district coordination forums.

Community Engagement and Accountability

  • Facilitate participatory community planning processes.
  • Oversee complaints and feedback mechanisms.

Finance and Administration

  • Monitor budgets and expenditure.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, logistics, and security procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Management, Development Studies, Natural Resource Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience managing climate adaptation and resilience programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, partnership-building, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with local government structures.
  • Strong reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
