Overview
POSITION: PURCHASE OFFICER (1 post)
A Production Corporation in Lilongwe is urgently seeking for a skilled and efficient Purchase Officer to ensure timely and secure delivery of packages, documents and other materials to clients and partners.
The person will be required to perform the following duties:
Import Purchase Management: Manage import purchases, including ordering, tracking and delivery
MRA Clearance Process: Ensure compliance with Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) regulations, including
- Obtaining necessary import permits and licenses
- Preparing and submitting import declarations
- Paying duties and taxes
Import Shipment Handling: Coordinate with clearance agents to:
- Track shipments
- Clear customs
- Handle documentation (e.g. bills of lading, commercial payments)
Road Traffic Permit: Obtain permits for transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations.
Skills required
- Strong understanding of purchasing principles and practices.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in using procurement software and systems is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should be in possession of
- Malawi School certificate of Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement and knowledge in international purchase and negotiation
- Excellent communication and supplier service skills
