Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. The role ensures that projects are completed within approved budgets while maintaining required standards of quality, health and safety, and contractual compliance. The post-holder will work closely with the Client’s Representative, Project Manager, Engineers, and Contractors to ensure effective cost control, value for money, and timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects
  • Pricing bills of quantities for tendering purposes
  • Prepare tender documents and make them ready for submission to prospective clients
  • Evaluate tenders, prepare tender analysis reports, and make recommendations
  • Monitor project costs and cash flow and prepare cost reports
  • Prepare and manage interim valuations, payment certificates, and final accounts
  • Ensure projects are completed within the approved budget and advise on cost-effective solutions
  • Manage contracts from initiation to completion stage, including variations and claims
  • Act as a liaison officer between consultants, contractors, and clients on commercial matters
  • Prepare and submit contractual and cost-related documentation to consultants and clients
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and project reports
  • Assist with procurement planning and material cost control
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body
  • Proven experience in cost estimation, tendering, and contract management
  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral
  • Proficiency in MS Office and quantity surveying software
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel long distances
  • Willing to work during odd hours and weekends
