Role Summary

The Reconciliation Officer is responsible for ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reconciliation of transactions between external payment platforms and the company’s internal systems. The role focuses on identifying discrepancies, resolving unmatched transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records to support operational efficiency and compliance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily transaction reports between Natswitch and the company’s internal systems.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and unmatched transactions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding reconciling items with relevant departments.
  • Maintain accurate reconciliation records and supporting documentation.
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies within agreed timelines.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliation schedules and related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor transaction settlement timelines and report delays or exceptions.
  • Assist in improving reconciliation processes and controls for operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, filtering, conditional formatting, and formulas.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Good understanding of financial transactions and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in reconciliations, finance operations, banking, or mobile money operations.
  • Experience working with payment systems such as Natswitch, banks, or mobile money platforms is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of digital financial services and transaction processing is an added advantage.
