Job Title: Regional Managers (3)

Company: Giraffe Powa Limited

Location: Blantyre, Malawi

Job Type: Full-time (3-month probation period)

1.1 Role Purpose

The Regional Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and scaling solar bulb rental operations in night markets and village light-up projects within the assigned region. The role focuses on revenue growth, asset protection, agent supervision, customer satisfaction, and social impact, ensuring reliable lighting access for traders and rural households.

1.2 Key Responsibilities

A. Operations & Project Implementation

  • Plan and oversee deployment of solar bulb rental schemes in night markets, trading centers, and village clusters.
  • Lead the execution of Village Light-Up Projects, including site identification, community engagement, and installation coordination.
  • Ensure efficient distribution, retrieval, charging, and redeployment of solar bulbs and related accessories.
  • Monitor daily operations to minimize losses, damages, and downtime of rental assets.

B. Revenue & Business Growth

  • Achieve and exceed regional rental revenue targets.
  • Expand Daily Sun’s footprint by identifying new night markets and villages for solar lighting services.
  • Develop pricing strategies that balance affordability, competitiveness, and profitability.
  • Track rental performance per site and recommend improvements.

C. Agent & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise District Managers, field coordinators and supervisors.
  • Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly targets for agents.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Ensure strong discipline, integrity, and accountability among field teams.

D. Asset & Risk Management

  • Maintain accurate records of all solar bulbs, batteries, chargers, and accessories.
  • Implement asset tracking systems to reduce theft, loss, and misuse.
  • Enforce proper handling, storage, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Investigate losses or damages and recommend corrective actions.

E. Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with market committees, village leaders, and local authorities.
  • Promote community ownership and acceptance of solar lighting initiatives
  • Resolve customer complaints and operational disputes promptly
  • Represent Daily Sun at community meetings and stakeholder forums.

F. Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare weekly and monthly operational and financial reports.
  • Track KPIs related to revenue, asset utilization, customer uptake, and agent productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and local regulations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

1.3 Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Renewable Energy, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing field operations, preferably in solar, rentals, FMCG, or last-mile distribution.
  • Proven experience in team supervision and revenue generation.
  • Strong understanding of rural and informal market operations.

  • Excellent planning and organizational ability
  • Financial and asset control skills
  • Community engagement and negotiation skills
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings for night markets).

Language Requirements

Fluent in English and at least one local language.
