Background
Sycamore Credit Limited is a Malawian-owned Micro Finance Company that provides loan products. Sycamore Credit Limited was incorporated in April 2018 with the Registrar of Companies and was licensed to operate as a microfinance company in August 2018 by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. The company is looking for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of a Relationship Officer.
Role Overview
The Relationship Officer will be reporting to the Relationship Supervisor. He/she will support the sales team at Sycamore Credit Limited with prospecting, lead generation, research, and customer acquisition and support to drive growth and gain industry experience and will be required to travel out of the office as the job requires 80% of the time in the field. He/she will have primary responsibility for achieving the ambitious growth strategy and for positioning Sycamore Credit Limited as a leading provider of high-quality financial services in Malawi. This will include the following key areas:Local business partnerships
Responsibilities
- Mobilize and recruit SME clients by marketing loan products and building a strong business portfolio.
- Assess and process SME loan applications through client interviews, business appraisals, site visits, and financial analysis.
- Prepare and recommend loan proposals in line with credit policies, including presenting applications for approval where required.
- Monitor loan utilization and portfolio performance by following up with clients, tracking repayments, and ensuring funds are used for intended purposes.
- Manage collections, recoveries, and reporting accurate records while maintaining PAR within acceptable limits and supporting overall branch growth and portfolio quality.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in Banking, Finance, Business Administration or any relevant qualifications.
- A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in a microfinance institution under SME loans with traceable referees.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Excellent selling skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Good customer relationship management
- Should be a self-starter
- Experience in a start-up environment is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to work under pressure and ability to embrace and manage change at all times.
- Excellent communicator in both written and verbal skills in English
