Sycamore Credit Limited is a Malawian-owned Micro Finance Company that provides loan products. Sycamore Credit Limited was incorporated in April 2018 with the Registrar of Companies and was licensed to operate as a microfinance company in August 2018 by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. The company is looking for a Risk, Collections, and Rehabilitation Intern to be based in the Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu offices.

JOB PURPOSE

The Risk, Recoveries and Rehabilitation Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the management of credit risk, coordinating loan recoveries, and leading rehabilitation efforts to ensure portfolio quality and minimize losses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of recoveries and rehabilitation officers.
  2. Monitor portfolio performance and ensure adherence to credit risk policies.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to reduce delinquency and non-performing loans (NPLs).
  4. Conduct regular reviews of high-risk accounts and recommend corrective actions.
  5. Lead negotiations with clients for repayment arrangements and restructuring.
  6. Prepare periodic reports on recoveries, write-offs, and portfolio trends.
  7. Support risk assessments and audits by ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
  8. Train and mentor staff in recoveries and rehabilitation best practices.
  9. Liaise with legal teams and external partners in pursuing recoveries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in any business-related practice from a recognized institution of learning.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong competency in using computers, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of credit operations, particularly lending methodologies and processes, credit, and risk management.
  • Good and valuable customer relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of the economy/markets where Sycamore Credit Ltd is operating.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong desire to work with the economically active and willing to help create wealth for Sycamore Credit Ltd customers.
