Background
Timbercity Wood Technologies is a demand driven Malawian company finding its niche in the advanced technology of wood machining, wooden and carpentry products; interior designing; and sales of materials and services related to the wooden world. We are based in Blantyre with a footprint in Lilongwe and Mzuzu. We sale wooden products like kitchen units, chest drawers, TV stands, closets, beds, bar stools, inhouse bars, boardrooms, wardrobes. We also sell melamine and all kinds of boards. Additionally, we do tiling, roofing and all work that requires state-of-the-art wooden technology and expertise.
We are therefore hiring like thinking individuals who would like to grow with us and be part of an employee centred workplace. All these positions are tenable at our Blantyre head office with extensive travelling to all parts of the country to meet customers’ requirements.
Responsibilities
- Greeting customers when they enter the store and offer assistance.
- Determining customer needs and recommending products to fit them.
- Answering questions about products and services.
- Informing customers about sales, promotions and policies.
- Demonstrating how products work to encourage sales.
- Processing payments using a POS system and packaging purchases.
- Stocking merchandise and creating displays to maintain the appearance of the sales floor.
- Taking inventory on a periodic basis.
- Making customer visits for customer acquisitions.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma in Sales and Marketing, Accounting or its equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a sales field.
- Those with experience in wood, hardware and construction products have a distinct advantage.
- Must be computer literate and able to prepare works programs & weekly progress reports.
- Knowledge of the sales process and best practices for conducting customer needs assessments
- Problem-solving skills to handle customer objections
- Customer service and interpersonal skills to ensure positive interactions with customers
- Communication skills to answer questions and clearly explain the features and benefits of products
- Organizational skills to maintain the sales floor
- Computer skills to operate POS systems and utilize inventory control, email and other software programs
- Ability to remain upright throughout a shift and to move merchandise from one place to another
