ABOUT THE ROLE
Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is Malawi's premier public health supply chain institution, responsible for procuring, warehousing, and distributing quality medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities nationwide.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Security Services Officer to coordinate, supervise, and strengthen security operations across the Trust, ensuring the effective protection of employees, assets, facilities, information, and operations.
If you have a strong background in security management, law enforcement, or military service, with expertise in modern surveillance systems and risk management, this is your opportunity to lead security operations for a critical public health institution and safeguard Malawi's health supply chain.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Security Studies, Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, Public Safety Management, Military Science, Law Enforcement, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- Professional training in intelligence, investigations, risk assessment, or security management will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in security management, law enforcement, military service, or a related field.
- Retired senior police officers or military officers will have an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and intelligence-gathering skills.
- Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and resolve complex security issues.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- High levels of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to prepare security reports and advisories.
- Knowledge of modern electronic security systems and security risk management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the security needs of the Trust and recommend appropriate security interventions.
- Coordinate the procurement and outsourcing of security services for all CMST facilities.
- Liaise with relevant departments on the acquisition of security infrastructure and services.
- Manage relationships with contracted security service providers.
- Coordinate deployment and supervision of security personnel across CMST establishments.
- Prepare and submit monthly security reports to management.
- Monitor the performance of contracted security providers and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure that all security and surveillance equipment is functional and properly maintained.
- Oversee implementation of approved security systems, procedures, and operations.
- Supervise security operations and ensure compliance with established security procedures.
- Conduct tactical patrols and inspections to enforce security standards.
- Monitor CCTV, vehicle tracking, electric fence, and radio communication systems in accordance with professional security practices and applicable human rights requirements.
