JOB PURPOSE
To procure goods and services, manage supplier relationships, negotiate competitive pricing, and ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of quality products and services to support mining operations. The Senior Buyer will provide procurement leadership, drive sourcing initiatives, and support operational departments through effective procurement planning and execution.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the end-to-end procurement of goods and services in accordance with company policies and operational requirements.
- Lead RFQ and tender processes, supplier evaluations, commercial assessments, and contract negotiations.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply, cost competitiveness, and service excellence.
- Identify alternative sources of supply and implement cost-saving and value-improvement initiatives.
- Expedite critical purchase orders and proactively resolve supply chain issues to minimize operational disruptions.
- Monitor supplier and contract performance and address non-conformance where necessary.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, expenditure analysis, and procurement reports.
- Provide procurement guidance and support to internal stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and SHERQ standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply chain function.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within mining, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments.
- Proven experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, and commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract administration, and inventory management principles.
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
