ABOUT THE ROLE

The Catholic University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior ICT Officer (Systems Programmer) – 1 post, tenable at Montfort Campus, Nguludi, Chiradzulu.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience.

Attributes & Competencies:

  • Strong command of core programming languages and relational databases.
  • Ability to implement modern concepts in APIs and Microservices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system errors and debug large code bases using various tools.
  • Ability to write, fix and optimise code.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, PHP and SQL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications.
  • Designing algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programmes and systems.
  • Producing efficient and elegant code based on requirements.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software.
  • Compiling and assessing user feedback to improve software performance.
  • Observing user feedback and recommending improvements to existing software products.
  • Developing technical documentation to guide future software development projects.
