Background
Cement Products Limited (CPL) is a leading cement manufacturing company committed to excellence in production, safety, and environmental stewardship. We operate a modern quarry and plant facility supplying high-quality cement products to the Malawian market and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight of mining and quarrying operations.
- Develop and review short-, medium- and long-term mine plans in line with production requirements.
- Oversee drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling and material handling activities.
- Monitor mining production, productivity, costs and resource utilisation, and implement improvement measures.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to Mining Engineers, Supervisors and other mining personnel.
- Ensure compliance with mining legislation, safety, environmental and company requirements.
- Provide technical oversight of crushing and material-processing operations to ensure consistent raw material supply.
- Evaluate mining equipment requirements, utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Lead investigations into mining incidents, operational challenges and technical problems.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, HSE, Quality and other departments to optimise operations.
- Prepare and review mining plans, technical reports, budgets and operational performance reports.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, resource optimisation, productivity improvement and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop junior mining personnel and promote high professional standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in mining/quarrying operations.
- Valid mining license.
- Practical experience in drilling and blasting, limestone quarrying and crushing operations is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and commitment to safety.
