Background

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi.

ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing in the Corporation.

Purpose of the Job

To develop and implement the Corporation’s outreach strategy and as well as to coordinate a range of outreach activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications and Marketing
• 4 years’ work experience in public relations or communications
• Professional Membership with Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM)

Attributes and Competencies

• Proven track record of achievement in designing and leading outreach and mass communication campaigns
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Excellent public speaking skills including in local languages
• Experience in media relations and crisis communication
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
• Previous experience in the energy sector is a plus
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote ESCOM’s services and projects.
• Develop and spearhead outreach campaigns including but not limited to anti-vandalism, safety and wayleave awareness
• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create engaging IEC materials, such as brochures, flyers, and social media content
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding in all IEC materials
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations and media outlets
• Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and presentations to educate the public about ESCOM’s initiatives
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts through data analysis and feedback from stakeholders
• Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in outreach and communication to continuously improve ESCOM’s outreach strategies.
