Position: SETTLEMENT AND RECONCILIATION OFFICER

Reporting To : Head of Operations

Job Purpose

The Settlement and Reconciliation Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and complete settlement and reconciliation of transactions.

The role ensures integrity of financial flows, resolution of discrepancies, and maintenance of robust operational controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of settlement processes across participating institutions
  • Investigate and resolve settlement and reconciliation discrepancies in collaboration with participants and other key stakeholders
  • Monitor transaction flows and ensure accuracy of end-of-day (EOD) processing
  • Maintain settlement and reconciliation reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with operational control frameworks
  • Liaise with participating members and service providers on settlement-related issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reconciliation and settlement processes
  • Disputes and chargebacks management
  • Manage reconciliation across multiple operational and financial areas
  • Monitor all transaction flows for suspicious activity and potential fraud risks
  • Prepare settlement, reconciliation, dispute, and fraud management reports
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support internal and external audits

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or related ICT field
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in digital payments, banking operations, reconciliation, or settlement functions
  • Strong understanding of electronic payment systems and switch operations
  • Experience with reconciliation tools and banking settlement processes
  • High level of attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict operational deadlines

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience working in a payment switch or card processing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 8583 or similar transaction messaging standards
  • Familiarity with central switch operations or digital financial infrastructure
