The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN's operational arm for volunteer mobilization. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for the recognition of volunteers, integrating their participation into development programmes, and by mobilizing volunteers. UNV works through UNV Field Units in over 130 countries. UNV supports the UN system and its partners in the areas of peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, post-conflict recovery, and sustainable human development.
Responsibilities or duties
The Social Media and Campaign Management Volunteer will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing social media strategies to promote UNV activities and campaigns in Malawi.
- Creating engaging content (text, images, videos) for various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Monitoring social media trends and analytics to optimize campaign performance.
- Engaging with online communities and responding to comments and messages.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of online and offline campaigns.
- Collaborating with UNV staff and partners to gather information and stories for social media.
- Providing regular reports on social media performance and campaign progress.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Proven experience in social media management and content creation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the UN system and its work is an asset.
Experience needed
Previous experience in a similar role or with volunteer work is desirable.

This is a volunteer position. UNV provides a modest living allowance, health insurance, and travel expenses. The volunteer will be based in Lilongwe, Malawi.
