ABOUT THE ROLE

Liwonde Anglican Church is inviting applications from suitably qualified and committed individuals for the position of Social Worker. The successful candidate will coordinate home and center-based Child Development activities, strengthen beneficiary-supporter communication, and support implementation of child-focused programs in collaboration with the Program Officer and Child Development Center Leadership.

This role involves working in remote areas within Machinga District and requires a strong commitment to child protection and Christian values.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Faith: Must be a mature born-again Christian with strong Christian testimony and good moral character
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Communication, Records Management, or related field
  • Experience: At least 2 years' experience; experience in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or home-based programming is an added advantage
  • Skills: Good written, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to plan, organize work, deliver results, and meet deadlines within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams
  • Training: Training in counselling and child development is an added advantage
  • Personal Attributes: Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, attend to details, prioritize, meet deadlines, willing to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Age: Must be between 22 and 40 years of age

Working Conditions:

  • Role is based at the Local Church Project with regular home visits to beneficiaries
  • Occasional travel for meetings, training, conferences, and project-related activities
  • Successful candidate will be required to sign and adhere to the Child Protection Statement of Commitment
  • Coordinate home and center-based program activities and related training sessions
  • Support the Program Officer in supervising Project Implementers and monitoring program implementation
  • Facilitate development and implementation of home and center-based lesson plans and curricula
  • Coordinate all beneficiary-supporter communications including letters, child updates, transfers, exits, and profile updates
  • Prepare and submit beneficiary-related reports to the Project Officer and Church Leadership
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to support program delivery
  • Promote Child Protection and advocate for rights and well-being of children
  • Report cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation through appropriate channels
  • Comply with Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, and Statement of Commitment to Child Protection
  • Support achievement of beneficiary, church partner, and sponsor outcomes
  • Be willing to work in remote areas within Machinga District
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Director
