Job Summary

The Engineer will be responsible for supervising and coordinating technical teams engaged in overhead line construction, domestic electrical installations, and solar (PV) installations. The role ensures that all works are executed safely, efficiently and in compliance with approved designs, technical standards and regulatory requirements. The role reports to the Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Supervision

  • Supervise field teams carrying out overhead line construction, domestic wiring and solar PV installations.
  • Ensure works are executed timely and in accordance to approved drawings, specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship quality and technical compliance.

Project Execution

  • Plan, coordinate and monitor daily site activities and work schedules.
  • Allocate tasks to technicians, linemen and installers based on skill and project needs.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and scope.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety regulations, HSE policies and industry best practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and risk assessments before and during work activities.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.

Solar Installations

  • Supervise installation of solar PV systems including panels, inverters, batteries and mounting structures.
  • Verify correct system sizing, wiring, earthing and testing before commissioning.
  • Oversee system testing, commissioning and handover to clients.

Quality Control & Testing

  • Ensure proper testing of overhead lines, domestic installations, and solar systems.
  • Identify faults, oversee troubleshooting, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and reliability.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare site progress reports, inspection reports, and completion documentation.
  • Maintain records of materials used, workforce attendance, and site activities.
  • Coordinate with management, clients, and regulatory authorities as required.

Team Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to technicians and installers.
  • Evaluate team performance and recommend training or corrective actions where necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of Proven experience in HV overhead line construction, electrical power Iinstallations and solar PV systems.
  • Hands on experience on HVAC Systems will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards and safety regulations.
  • Experience supervising technical or construction teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work on construction sites and travel as required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with low-voltage and medium-voltage overhead lines.
  • Solar PV certification or hands-on commissioning experience.
  • Familiarity with testing instruments and fault-finding techniques.
