OVERVIEW

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide to provide passenger, ramp and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, travel & tour and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at the Head Office, Kamuzu International Airport.

Post: Technician (Mechanical) (LH8)

Responsible to: Maintenance Supervisor

Responsible for: None

Main Responsibilities:

  • Check and inspect GSE at the parking area on the air side and in the workshop
  • Check and inspect vehicles referred to the workshop
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Carry out maintenance jobs as assigned by Maintenance Charge Hand
  • Document jobs carried out and jobs still outstanding
  • Ensure safety and security in all maintenance operations/activities
  • Provide Ground to Deck communication on the apron
  • Provide and operate ASU and GPU
  • Reporting hazards and safety risks in Maintenance and ramp operations
  • Collect FOD
  • Appraise staff
  • Carrying out inspections on equipment/GSE and vehicles before use

Education Qualification

Minimum MSCE with City and Guilds part one, TEVET Level Three in Automobile Mechanics,

Work Experience

Minimum four (4) years relevant experience

  • Check and inspect GSE at the parking area on the air side and in the workshop
  • Check and inspect vehicles referred to the workshop
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Carry out maintenance jobs as assigned by Maintenance Charge Hand
  • Document jobs carried out and jobs still outstanding
  • Ensure safety and security in all maintenance operations/activities
