Nursery Execution and Technical Support

● Execution of day-to-day fruit tree production trial across all assigned nursery sites in line with operations calendar

● Build capacity of Nursery Managers to ensure compliance with approved nursery management standards and project guidelines

● Ensure consistent application of approved nursery management practice including sowing, grafting/budding, watering, and pest & disease management.

● Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting during regular, planned nursery visits

● Ensure corrective actions agreed during monitoring visits are implemented and verifi ed in subsequent follow ups

● Serve as the fi rst point of contact for nursery-level production challenges, escalating complex issues when required.

Capacity Building and Compliance

● Build the technical capacity of Nursery Managers and key nursery staff to comply with project standards including IPM guidelines, and grafting protocols.

● Deliver targeted, practical training aligned to key production stages and recurring operational needs.

● Reinforce accountability, ownership, and adherence to standards at nursery level.

Monitoring, KPIs, and Reporting

● Coordinate and support timely collection, validation, and submission of agreed trial KPIs.

● Conduct routine back-checks of nursery records and fi eld practices to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Monitor production progress including sowing, germination, seedling growth, survival rates, and overall nursery performance.

● Flag risks or underperformance early and propose defi ned corrective actions.

● Contribute fi eld-based inputs to seasonal and end-of-cycle trial reports.

● Identify and document recurring production challenges related to propagation, growth, grafting readiness, and seedling health.

Coordination and Communication

● Coordination with other One Acre Fund projects, including Munda Otsogola, Tree projects, and the Planting Partner Initiative, to align nursery operations.

● Act as the operational link between nursery teams and the Agroforestry Associate.

● Ensure clear, timely communication on progress, challenges, and support needs.

Qualification & Experience Required

Minimum of Diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture, Natural Resources Management or Forestry.

● A minimum of one year experience in agricultural trials, farmer engagement or market access is preferred.

● Possession of a Motorcycle licence and a clean traffi c record will be an added advantage.

Skills

● Basic knowledge of horticulture and fruit tree nursery management with experience in managing tree-grafting processes

● Good supervision and communication skills.

● Ability to monitor performance and maintain simple records

● Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail

● Minimum 2 years of practical nursery or fruit tree production experience

● Strong understanding of fruit tree propagation and nursery management

● Proven ability to collect and report production data accurately and on time

● High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail

● Ability to work independently across multiple sites
