Malawi Airlines Limited is a registered partnership company with shareholding between Malawi Government and Ethiopian Airlines Enterprise. Malawi Airlines is the national flag carrier that operates B737-700, B737-800 and Q400 Aircrafts having direct flights to regional cities of Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare, Nairobi, Entebbe and Dar es Salaam, besides daily domestic flights between Lilongwe and Blantyre. Responsibilities or duties
- Ensures the consistent implementation of the airline safety and security policy and procedures by reporting deviations to safety or security offices as appropriate, initiating and taking preventive and corrective actions to avoid the recurrence of the deviation
- Directs the solicitation of all sources of passenger and cargo business within the designated territory, including travel/general sales agents, other airlines, commercial accounts, government, military offices and the general public and resolves complaints from these sources
- Implements sales promotion plans, policies and procedures, including the preparation of direct mail piece, tie-in advertising and sales promotional schemes. Exercises supervision and control over the sales force and activities of the station
- Analyses and evaluates the transportation needs and revenue potentials of all sources of passenger/cargo business, and recommends and/or, as appropriate, implements plans to meet these needs and acquires maximum revenue
- Calls on travel agents, interline carrier representatives and solicit other major sources of business to attain sales objectives
- Analyses and evaluates sales performance of the Area and takes corrective action whenever necessary to attain sales objectives
- Reviews and resolves selected accounts, claims and complaints
- Fulfills speaking engagements before airlines and travel agents groups, and business, civic, social and other groups solicited by them to stimulate passenger and airfreight sales activities
- Evaluates and recommends the division of sales territories and the staffing of territories necessary to accomplish sales objectives
- Directs the preparation of window displays for use within the area at ticket offices, travel agencies, department stores, conventions and other locations and affairs where maximum exposure to the public can be achieved
- Complies with all policies, procedures and regulations specified for the position in Malawi Airlines Security Manual
- Ensures the consistent implementation of the airline safety and security policy and procedures by reporting deviations to safety or security offices as appropriate, initiating and taking preventive and corrective actions to avoid the recurrence of the deviation
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent from recognized institution
- MSCE
- High level proven integrity
Experience needed
At least 4 years’ experience in aviation industry and those with ticketing know how will have added advantage
