Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations independently.
  • Accurately record patient data, imaging details, and procedures.
  • Explain ultrasound procedures clearly to patients and ensure correct preparation.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images as per established clinical protocols.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment; report any faults.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Assist clinicians during specialized procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention, control, and equipment safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography or relevant qualification in Medical Imaging.
  • Formal training and demonstrated competence in ultrasound scanning.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi and a valid practising license.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a hospital or diagnostic imaging setting.
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on-call duties.
