Background

The Welder is responsible to perform high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair works using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/ARC) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG/GTAW) processes to support production equipment reliability, plant modifications, structural integrity, and preventive maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform ARC (SMAW) welding for structural steel, frames, supports, and pipework.
  • Perform TIG (GTAW) welding for stainless steel pipework and thin materials.
  • Fabricate machine guards, platforms, handrails, brackets, and supports.
  • Support breakdown maintenance and emergency welding repairs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Inspect welds for cracks, porosity, distortion, and quality compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and hot work permit systems.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper gas cylinder handling.
  • Record completed work in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.

Skills, Experience & Education

Qualifications

  • Trade Test Certificate in Welding and Fabrication.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Proficiency in ARC and TIG welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience in stainless steel welding (advantage).
