Background

The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is a Malawian parastatal organization responsible for the procurement, storage, and distribution of essential medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across the country. CMST plays a critical role in ensuring the availability of quality healthcare products, contributing significantly to the nation's health outcomes.

Responsibilities

The Pharmaceutical Manager will be responsible for overseeing all pharmaceutical operations within CMST, ensuring efficient and effective management of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Key duties include:

  • Developing and implementing pharmaceutical policies and procedures.
  • Managing the procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Leading and supervising the pharmaceutical team.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and managing stock to prevent stockouts and expiry.
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and healthcare facilities.
  • Preparing and submitting regular reports on pharmaceutical activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Council of Malawi.
  • A Master's degree in Pharmacy, Public Health, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical management, preferably within a public health or supply chain setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical procurement, inventory management, and distribution systems.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications.
